Biology 111

A foundation course for science majors emphasizing the concept of structure and function of biological systems at the molecular and cellular levels. Topics includes biochemistry, biochemical and molecular evolution, cell function, respiration, photosynthesis, genetics, and molecular biology.

Western History to 1500

This course is an historical survey of the major civilizations and cultures of human history from earliest times to the Age of Discovery (early AD sixteenth century). The overarching theme focuses on the formation and interaction of the high cultures and civilizations of the Near East, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America and the character of relationships among different civilizations, e.g., East-West relations over time. Here the class will explore issues related to political development, social and intellectual systems, religion, science, and world views.

Badmitting and Racquetball

To develop and improve on basic skills in badminton and pickleball by lecture, reading the text, participating in drills, and competitive activities. To provide a basic knowledge and understanding of the rules and strategies of badminton and pickleball through reading the text, lecture, and application in game situations. To develop an enjoyment in the activities which will provide an opportunity for physical fitness through life long participation.

Math 104 Elementary Stats

The course develops the concept and methods of probability and statistics at an elementary level. It is designed to introduce students to a variety of topics and applications in elementary statistics. After completing the course, the students are expected to be able to master the general idea of statistics and to apply the idea to the real world problems. The format focuses on providing information on topics including the definition of human sexuality, research methods, female/male anatomy and physiology, arousal and response, gender identity/roles, attraction/love, communication, techniques/behavior patterns, sexual orientation, conception/pregnancy/childbirth, contraception, abortion, sexuality in childhood/adolescence/adulthood, dysfunction, STDs, atypical sexual variations, sexual coercion, and commercial sex. The information is presented to help students have a better understanding of self and others as sexual beings. Main Page
